Stratum spread over rock as flat, layered crusts. They like it warmer than most life — above about 160 K — on rocky and metal-rich worlds with thin carbon dioxide, ammonia, sulphur dioxide, oxygen or water atmospheres.

Tectonicas, on metal-rich worlds, is the best-paying common species in the galaxy, which makes high metal content bodies with thin atmospheres a favourite target.
