Codex
Life, geology and alien sites of the galaxy, as commanders logged them in their codex. For every species of surface life: where it grows — atmospheres, gravity, temperature, pressure, volcanism and stars — derived by EDCAS from the finds commanders shared.
Surface life
Plants, fungi and bacteria on landable planets. A detailed surface scan names the genera on a body; three samples of one species, taken far enough apart, sell at Vista Genomics. Each genus page lists its species with the conditions commanders found them in.
Aleoida
Low rosettes of thick, pointed leaves, like an aloe.
Bacterium
Flat, patchy films on the ground — the commonest life in the galaxy.
Cactoida
Ribbed upright columns with stubby arms, like a cactus.
Clypeus
Shield-shaped cups on short stalks.
Concha
A single cupped shell opening upwards, like a clam.
Electricae
Thin glowing filaments radiating from a small base.
Fonticulua
Rounded mounds of stacked, frilly plates.
Frutexa
Low, bushy shrubs of branching stems.
Fumerola
Crusted mineral chimneys around volcanic vents.
Fungoida
Clusters of puffball and mushroom caps.
Osseus
Bone-white discs, spirals and fans.
Recepta
Spiky, angular pods in sulphur dioxide atmospheres.
Stratum
Flat crusts and layered mats spreading over rock.
Tubus
Clusters of upright hollow tubes.
Tussock
Grass-like tufts of thin blades.
Radicoida
A giant root structure, logged only in a few places.
Amphora Plant
Urn-shaped plants on hot, airless metal-rich worlds.
Anemone
Round, petalled growths; some glow.
Bark Mound
Cone-shaped mounds of bark-like material.
Brain Tree
Trees with a wrinkled, brain-like crown.
Crystalline Shards
Fields of tall crystal spikes on frozen worlds.
Sinuous Tubers
Twisting tube-like growths on volcanic worlds.
Space life
Life that drifts in space: crystals, molluscs, pods and trees. The full-spectrum scanner lists them under notable stellar phenomena; fly there and scan them with the composition scanner to log them.
Crystals
Clusters of ice, metallic and silicate crystals floating in space.
Molluscs
Floating organisms with soft bodies: gourd, umbrella and others.
Pods and trees
Seed pods and the trees that release them.
Mineral spheres
Solid and lattice mineral spheres and their companions.
Other space life
Organisms in space the other groups don't cover.
Geology
Fumaroles, geysers, gas vents and lava spouts on bodies with volcanism. The detailed surface scan counts them as geological signals.
Fumaroles
Vents breathing hot gas: sulphur dioxide, silicate vapour or water.
Ice fumaroles
Vents on frozen worlds breathing water, nitrogen, methane, ammonia or CO₂.
Geysers
Eruptions of water, nitrogen, methane, ammonia or CO₂.
Gas vents
Openings that release gas continuously: sulphur dioxide, silicate vapour, water or CO₂.
Lava spouts
Fountains of molten iron or silicate rock.
Stellar phenomena
Lagrange clouds and energy anomalies, found among the notable stellar phenomena of a system.
Lagrange clouds
Coloured gas clouds held at Lagrange points; some storm.
Anomalies
Unexplained energy phenomena in space, numbered by type.
Guardian
What is left of the Guardians, a civilisation that died out about a million years ago: ruins, structures and the beacons that lead to them.
Guardian sites
Ruins and structures: obelisks, terminals, pylons, relic towers and sentinels.
Guardian beacons
Beacons in space that point to Guardian structures.
Thargoid
The Thargoids: their ships, the sites they built on planets, the barnacles they farm and the wrecks of their vessels.
Thargoid vessels
Interceptors, scouts, hunters and scavengers.
Thargoid wrecks
Crashed interceptors and scouts on planets.
Barnacles and coral
Barnacles, mega barnacles and coral the Thargoids grow.
Thargoid sites
Devices, pods and generators at Thargoid surface sites.
Thargoid spires
Tall spires the Thargoids built on planets during the war.
